The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) of Malaysia announced that effective June 23, 2025, it will remove anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled steel or non-alloy steel products with widths exceeding 1,300 mm originating from South Korea and Vietnam. However, Malaysia will maintain anti-dumping duties on related products from China and Japan.
For Chinese manufacturers:
– Ansteel: 4.82% duty
– Ma Steel: 4.76% duty
– Shougang Jingtang: 8.74% duty
– All other Chinese companies: 26.38% duty
For Japanese manufacturers:
– A uniform duty rate of 26.39% will be applied
This policy will remain in effect for five years, until June 22, 2030. The decision follows MITI’s sunset review of the anti-dumping measures initially implemented in 2019. The review concluded that while South Korean and Vietnamese products no longer demonstrate dumping practices, Chinese and Japanese steel products continue to be sold at prices below fair market value, warranting the continuation of protective tariffs.
